Can’t wait until May to check out the next issue of mature horror comic book “Proctor Valley Road” from creators Grant Morrison, Alex Child and Naomi Franquiz? You’re in luck. Today BOOM! Studios shared a first look at the third issue of the series, which goes on sale May 12.

Produced by BOOM! Studios in partnership with UCP Graphic, the comic book publishing initiative launched by NBCUniversal’s Universal Content Productions last summer, “Proctor Valley Road” is about misfit teenage girls from a California beach town in the 1960s who are suspected in the disappearance of a group of boys. While the girls are supposed to be staying out of trouble, and avoiding a stretch of road that’s haunted by monsters, a stolen police car leads them to more danger.

The limited series, co-written by Child with Morrison, the renowned comics scribe of “The Invisibles” and “Happy!” fame, features art from Franquiz and colorist Tamra Bonvillain, with lettering by Jim Campbell.

A television series that’s based on the comic book, that’s being developed by Universal Studio Group, is in the works with BOOM! Studios’ founder Ross Richie and Stephen Christy, BOOM!’s president of development, attached as executive producers.
